19-21 June Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, Kent
British Sea Power, The Damned and The Undertones are also announced to play Red List LIVE – a music festival set up to raise money for endangered species
Having made their breakthrough in 2008, The Wombats are hotly tipped for even bigger things in 2009, and the Scouse trio are among the first acts announced for the brand new festival at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park.
The marsupial-monikered Liverpudlians will be joined by indie four-piece British Sea Power. Lauded for their live performances, the Brighton based band have managed to combine critical and commercial success throughout the noughties.
Taking place from 19-21 June 2009, Red List LIVE will feature punk rock royalty in the form of The Undertones, and fellow 1970s veterans of the genre The Damned. Although formed a decade later, The Alarm and The Wedding Present are both rock reformers who will add to the retro feel. Keeping everyone on their toes at the festival will be a quadruplet of up-and-coming talent.
Archie Bronson Outfit are a blues rock outfit that have been on the radar for a few years having received excellent reviews for their 2006 album Derdang Derdang. While the acoustic sounds of Klaus Says Buy The Record are another to have caught the industry’s attention as winners of the 2008 Red Stripe Music Awards. Also playing Red List LIVE will be London indie band White Rose Movement and unsigned local duo Lights Go Blue.
Launched by The Aspinall Foundation, Red List LIVE will take place from 19-21 June 2009. £5 from every weekend ticket sold, and 50 per cent of the profits from the festival will go to the charity. A fundraising target of £100,000 has been set for 2009, with the festival hoping to help donate £1,000,000 to the Foundation in five years.
